Our Curriculum

St. Teresa of Avila School aligns its curriculum with the course of study, Teaching for the 21st Century, as adopted by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Furthermore, the curriculum meets or surpasses the minimum standards set by the State of Ohio for elementary schools and the Archdiocesan Education Commission. The school’s academic calendar and class schedules are designed to adhere to these standards, ensuring a comprehensive and robust learning experience for students.

The school maintains a high level of academic performance, using the blended learning model of teaching. This model of teaching allows teachers to meet students where they are academically and help them to grow using a combination of whole group, small group, and individual lessons in addition to online components. This year, our Kindergarten through Fourth grade adopted the Amplify Curriculum for our Language Arts program. This curriculum incorporates the Science of Reading which helps our teachers to examine and improve their current understanding of effective approaches to literacy instruction. Our students consistently show academic growth on the NWEA MAP Achievement test in math and reading. Additionally, our eighth-grade students excel on the High School Placement Test, often earning scholarships for their achievements.

To foster an optimal learning environment, the school maintains small class sizes, with an average teacher-to-student ratio of 20:1. This allows for personalized attention and individualized support, ensuring that each student’s unique needs are addressed.

Furthermore, all students at St. Teresa of Avila School participate in special classes, including Music, Art, Computers, Physical Education, and Library. These classes complement the core curriculum and provide a well-rounded education, nurturing students’ creativity, physical fitness, and information technology skills.

In summary, St. Teresa of Avila School prioritizes academic excellence and holistic development, providing students with a curriculum aligned with educational standards and enriched with diverse learning opportunities. Our commitment to quality education is reflected in our students’ achievements and overall growth.

Our mission is to empower children to develop strong academic skills in a Catholic atmosphere. We strive to educate, in partnership with the parents, the whole child: spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. Ultimately, our mission is to enable our students to become responsible and contributing Christian members of society.
